Professor Peter Doyle discusses "Princess Mary's Christmas Box"
Running time: 1 hour 5 minutes 54 seconds

The London (East) branch of The Western Front Association meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at Walthamstow Cricket, Tennis & Squash Club, 48a Greenway Ave, E17 3QN.

On 16th Mar 2023 Professor Peter Doyle, the professor of history and head of research at London South Bank University, gave a talk about his upcoming book on the story of an iconic Great War artifact, "Princess Mary’s Christmas Box". A small crew from Forest Radio came along to hear him explain the history behind the little brass tin, what was in it and who it was given to.

You can find Professor Doyle's many books on military history and the material culture of warfare on Amazon, and he is a regular speaker at Western Front Association events.
