On Sunday December 6th Forest Radio took a hand-held camera (hence the occasional shake) to the World Aids Day Charity Fundraiser at Walthamstow Trades Hall on Tower Hamlets Road, E17 4RQ.
The event was in support of Positive East, East London's leading HIV and AIDS charity. Led by our own stunning and talented drag queen Victoria Sponge, the proceedings were a shade irreverent and post-watershed, but upbeat, good humoured and highly enjoyable.

In the short film short video that we made at the event Other Theresa, who recently did a special show for Forest Radio, performs some of her poems and makes an announccement on behalf of the E17 Art trail.
The Art Trail started in 2005 and is an 18 day biennial festival which next year takes place from the 3rd to the 20th of June. The sign-up deadline for artist participants is Monday 1st of March 2021. The fee is £60 for an indoor event and £30 for an outdoor event, which includes listings in the Art Trail Guide and the Trail Guide app.
Next year's theme is "Possible Futures" and works (art/craft/performances etc.) should be relevant to this theme).
To find out more, please visit the Art Trail's Official Website. You can help to keep the Art Trail alive by donating to the Save the Art Trail Crowdfunding Campaign. On the same site you'll find comments that show how much the E17 Art Trail means to the people of our community.
“It is without doubt that the success of the E17 Art Trail was one of the key reasons why we won the [London Borough of Culture 2019] award in the first place, the simple act of an entire community coming together to celebrate its creativity on this kind of scale proves we’ll continue to be a borough of culture long after 2019.”
Sam Hunt, Creative Director,
Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019.
Other Theresa wears many hats and creates work in many fields. She is an actress, poet, singer and stage performer. You can hear a lot of her work, much of which hovers somewhere between song and poetry, on her Soundcloud Channel and learn more about her on her Facebook page.
