Wayne Walton talks to Courtney Barrett and several of the volunteers looking after the Binning Knives Saves Lives stall at Leytonstone Tube Station. This is a follow-up to the item that we uploaded on 29th June 2019 entitled 'Binning Knives Saves Lives'. In these interviews people affected by knife crime talk more intimately about the impact that it has had on their lives and those of their families and friends, and discuss the causes of the epidemic and possible ways to stop it.

An interesting thread that emerges is the claim that the Coucil have been persistently taking down their posters and removing some expensive publicity banners AFTER giving the group permission to put them up. One can only infer total incompetence or an unwillingness to face up to Waltham Forest's knife crime problem or to allow any adverising that might detract from the 'awesome' image of the borough that they would like to promote. Courtney describes the council as impeding the organisation's efforts to take knives off the streets, and also accuses Stella Creasy MP of being unresponsive and unhelpful towards the group's attempts to get replies to their emails and enlist her support and sponsorship.
